Redesigned my life
How I Fell in Love with My Own Company
I never imagined myself as an entrepreneur. The thought of running my own company felt daunting, riddled with risks and responsibilities that seemed better suited to someone else. I was content in my structured nine-to-five life, with clear boundaries and predictable paychecks. Yet, here I am today, the proud owner of a thriving business (ICL) —a journey I never planned but now wouldn’t trade for anything.
Taking the Leap
The decision to start my own company wasn’t instantaneous, it was through an experience. Fear loomed large: What if I fail? What if I’m not cut out for this? I spent weeks researching, planning, and debating with myself. Eventually, I landed on a principle that became my mantra: I would rather try and fail than spend my life wondering “what if?”
The Challenges — And the Growth
Running a business is not without its challenges. There were sleepless nights, financial strains, and moments of doubt that made me question everything. But there were also moments of working with clients, hearing positive feedback, and watching my ideas come to life without interference.
I discovered strengths I never knew I had: resilience, adaptability, and an ability to connect with people in ways that fostered trust and collaboration. More importantly, I found joy in the freedom to shape my own destiny. Decisions that once felt paralysing now felt empowering.
Why I Now Love What I Do
Today, I can confidently say that I love running my own company. Here’s why:
Creative Freedom: I get to innovate without barriers. Every project is an opportunity to bring my vision to life.
Meaningful Impact: Knowing that my work directly benefits my clients and their businesses is incredibly fulfilling.
Personal Growth: The challenges of entrepreneurship have made me a stronger, more resourceful person.
Community Building: I’ve built a team of like-minded individuals who share my passion and values. Together, we’re creating something bigger than ourselves.
Authenticity: This company is a true reflection of who I am and what I believe in. That’s a level of alignment I never felt in my previous roles.
Looking Back and Moving Forward
If you had told me a few years ago that I would one day run my own business, I would have laughed it off. Yet, here I am, grateful for the experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone and into a life I love. Sometimes, the best things in life are the ones we never plan for.
For anyone contemplating a similar leap, my advice is simple: trust yourself and take the chance. The road may be uncertain, but the journey is worth it. And who knows? You might just fall in love with it, too.
